Navigate Differences with Greater Confidence and Skill
Webinar Replay: Originally recorded 5/19/2022
We live in a culturally and racially diverse world. Today we don’t need to travel overseas to meet people different from us. We encounter them in our workplaces, congregations, supermarkets, and many other places. Despite this, it is still challenging for many of us to know how to react and behave in the presence of someone whose culture is different from our own.
This workshop provides tools to help us see differences not as obstacles, but as resources for understanding. Learn how to respond by affirming rather than offending people who are different from us.
What you’ll learn:
- The value of defining and understanding culture
- How to develop the capabilities of Cultural Intelligence (CQ)
- The benefits and challenges of using your Cultural Intelligence (CQ) in real life encounters
Featured speakers: Rev. Jerome Burton, Pastor, Coit Community Christian Reformed Church (CRC), Grand Rapids, MI; and Viviana Cornejo, Racial Curriculum and Instruction Specialist, Office of Race Relations, Christian Reformed Church (CRC)
