Dr. Samuel Pérez has been Senior Pastor of the Iglesia del Nazareno “Vida Abundante” in Levittown, Puerto Rico, for 40 years. For the past 3 decades, he has been involved in chaplaincy in different contexts, including with the police and army reserve, as well as in hospitals and a mental health center. In recent years he has developed a deep interest in clinical pastoral education (CPE) in the field of Pastoral Care and Counseling. He is currently President of the Institute for Pastoral Care and Education (ICEP), through which he is dedicated to training pastors and leaders in the area of ​​clinical pastoral care and counseling. He also chairs and directs the Virtual Marriage Counseling project, where he serves as a psychotherapist and pastoral counselor.

In addition to professional certifications in traumatology and grief recovery, Dr. Pérez has an MA in church ministry, an MDiv, earned doctoral degrees in Christian counseling and in psychotherapy, and he is currently completing his dissertation for a PhD in theology.  He is a member of the International Reciprocity Board of Therapeutic Rehabilitation (IRBO).

He is author of El cuidado en la Palabra: Un acercamiento bíblico-terapeútico al cuidado y consejería pastoral (transl. Caring in the Word: A Biblical-Therapeutic Approach to Pastoral Care and Counseling) and coauthor of El cuidado en la palabra: Sermones sobre cuidado pastoral (transl. Caring in the Word: Sermons on Pastoral Care).
